The main purpose of the Art Nouveau period (ca. 1883–1914) was to break down the barrier between the fine arts and the applied arts, and the its themes borrowed heavily from nature.
This piece is faithfully made in the same style. Delicate swirls of gold wire, inlaid with black enamel, support a 3.5mm pink-red prong set ruby. A Tennessee dogtooth pearl, a type of freshwater pearl found naturally in the Tennessee river, is suspended from the pendant's bottom.
Please note that the purchase price of this listing includes the pendant ONLY and does NOT include the chain that it is photographed on.
