The decorated beautiful figure of Lord Buddha is sculpted out of brass and red coral and blue reconstituted turquoise to give a spectacular look. The Lord is in Abhaya Mudra and is shown seated on a beautifully decorated podium. The surroundings are also beautifully decorated. One of the popular deities not only for the Buddhists but also for the Hindus, the Lord is called the Apostle of Non-Violence and Truth and he is emulated even today. Mahatma Gandhi followed his path of non-violence. Here the Lord is in Abhayamudra, which is the gesture of reassurance and safety. This posture dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss to the devotees. In this mudra, the Lord is holding his right hand upright, and the palm is facing outwards. This is one of the earliest Mudra found depicted on a number of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jaina images.
